Fix Shutter edit function on Ubuntu 18.04

Today I needed to make screenshot on my freshly updated Ubuntu  OS. I found out, it’s not possible. After few seconds of googling I found this article :

https://itsfoss.com/shutter-edit-button-disabled/

As described in the article, it’s caused by not updated application for a long time. Application is using older dependencies, which are no longer part of Ubuntu anymore.

In case you want to know more details, I recommend to visit original article.

To quote original article ( and I’m writing this only to have copy of original one ) There are required 3 libraries to install:

  1. libgoocanvas-common
  2. libgoocanvas3
  3. libgoo-canvas-perl

In case you already run Shutter, you should make one last step in console. Close all running processes of shutter application

sudo killall shutter
